Hill Walk: Tinto Glen

When: Saturday 6 March 2010

Walk: Tinto Hills, by Biggar. Medium, high level walk to the viewpoint of Tinto (707m) which overlooks the Clyde valley to the north. Walking on potentially muddy paths and unique weathered scree

Meet: 10am at Wiston on the B7055 (NS956321)(OS Landranger 72). Limited parking.vIf sufficient transport can be arranged we could do a traverse to the car park off the A73 at Fallburn (NS964374), 5 miles away by road.

Open to: Scouts, Explorers, Networkers and Leaders

Walk: Tinto Glen

Gear needed: Waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, scarf, gloves sturdy boots, spare clothes and shoes for going home in, and enough food (packed lunch) and water for the day (NOT fizzy juice).

Additional equipment: If you have maps for this area (sheet 72) and/or a compass feel free to bring them along if you want but these are not essential as the walk will be guided. (Suggestion: it can be pretty boggy under foot so if you put your socks on, then put a polybag over your foot, then put your boots on your feet might stay dry!)

Clyde Hillwalking Group is a group which meets on the first Saturday of every month to encourage hillwalking within Scouting and to provide a range of walking opportunities to those in Scouting. We have a team of qualified hill leaders who lead all walks.
